Welcome to 10th Grade World Literature!
This is a thematic-based course which will ask students to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the structural elements and critical evaluation of literature from around the world, apply knowledge of literary terms to various works, and show knowledge of strategies used to enhance understanding across subject areas. Our class will also expect students to show in-depth knowledge of research techniques and interpretations of messages and effects of mass media. We will also work on mastering the writing process, including the usage and mechanics of Standard American English.
In short, World Lit is a rigorous course that expects a lot from its students. However, our teachers Mr. Thompson, Ms. Burroughs, Ms. Beverly, and Ms. Spiceland are prepared to do everything we can to help each and every student succeed in this class.
We hope you enjoy this course, and that you end the year with a lot of new knowledge, without ever having been buffaloed.
